Why is Summit County Real Estate So Hot?

Aside form the being the home of a world class ski resort in Breckenridge. Summit County real estate market is strong. Once it is built out prices are expected to continue to rise because of basic economics of supply vs. demand. We saw it happen in Eagle and Pitkin Counties make no bones about it. It will happen to Summit County as well. The statistics below are provided by the Summit County Planning Department which meets each Wedensday.

Summit County consists of approximately 396,245 acres

82.03% of the above acres is part of the White River National Forest.

.31% BLM land

.03% Colorado Division of Wildlife

15.04% private land unincorporated and 2.6% private incorporated in- town land.

Approximately 85% of the acres in Summit County is owned by the State and Federal government
This leaves approximately 15% for zoned in- county land to develop.
Out of the 15% of the zoned in county land, approximately 74% is already built on, only leaving approximately 26%
Summit County is approximately 80-90% “Built- Out” .
