The Town of Breckenridge is requesting qualifications from well-qualified developers or development teams to develop affordable housing. Breckenridge recently completed a Housing Needs Assessment and estimates that by 2014 over 900 additional units will be necessary to accommodate the needs of local employees.

The Town of Breckenridge owns approximately 30 acres which is commonly referred to as the Block 11 property and has determined that this property is suitable for affordable housing. The Town is seeking a partner to develop the first phase of this project which is approximately 4.7 acres and commonly referred to as the Valley Brook parcel.

The intent of this Request for Qualifications is to identify interested developers, to potentially pre-screen applicants and narrow the pool of interested applicants, and to solicit input from affordable housing experts before issuing a more detailed Request for Proposals. The Town of Breckenridge prefers the Valley Brook parcel be developed as soon as possible and is seeking a partnership with a developer to initiate an affordable housing project immediately.
