The number if seniors living in Summit County is going to continue to skyrocket over the next couple of decades. Summit County is truly not only Colorado’s play ground, but is becoming America’s playground as well. The number of adults aged 65 and over living in Summit County is projected to grow over 250 percent in the next couple decades. Between 2000 and 2010 the population of adults over 65 living in Summit County increased over 100 percent.

It use to be that when people got to retirement age here in the Colorado High Country, they would leave as life was too harsh here. BUT, now that Summit County has a very modern hospital and wonderful grocery stores and factory outlets stores as well as a Wal-Mart and Target, life here in the high country has become must easier.  The county is looking at ways to have more housing available that will meet the needs of the ever increasing senior citizen population. They are also looking into meal services and affordable senior living options. This is an exciting time here in county.
